Antigua is often a top choice for honeymooners drawn to its wide selection of adults-only, romance-focused all-inclusives. But families will find several standout resorts here. In fact, Antigua is one of the few islands other than Jamaica that focuses on all-inclusive resorts – but unlike Jamaica, the resorts here tend to be boutique with a small footprint, offering the ease of all-inclusive with a bit more local charm.
Beyond the beach and resort, Antigua stands out for its rich history and naval heritage. The island is home to the historic Nelson’s Dockyard, a beautifully restored 18th-century British naval base, where families can wander through old forts, explore maritime artifacts, and soak in scenic views of the harbor.

Antigua’s roads are generally well-maintained, and so a car rental is straightforward and offers flexibility. It may be tempting not to rent a car when staying at an all-inclusive resort, but Antigua is worth exploring. With all the coves and inlets, just about everything in Antigua is 30-45 minutes from each other, making day trips easy and accessible.
Family-friendly beachfront resorts are abundant all over the island, but stay in the south if you’re a history buff and want to experience the walkable area of Nelson’s Dockyard. Peak Season: December to April; sunny days and cooler nights make this the perfect time for a beach getaway.
Shoulder Season: May to August; enjoy warm weather and fewer crowds, though occasional rain showers are expected.
