In fact, Antigua is one of the few islands other than Jamaica that focuses on all-inclusive resorts – but unlike Jamaica, the resorts here tend to be boutique with a small footprint, offering the ease of all-inclusive with a bit more local charm.

Antigua’s roads are generally well-maintained, and so a car rental is straightforward and offers flexibility. It may be tempting not to rent a car when staying at an all-inclusive resort, but Antigua is worth exploring. With all the coves and inlets, just about everything in Antigua is 30-45 minutes from each other, making day trips easy and accessible.
Family-friendly beachfront resorts are abundant all over the island, but stay in the south if you’re a history buff and want to experience the walkable area of Nelson’s Dockyard. The US Virgin Islands get a bad reputation sometimes for being overly touristy and a cruise ship mecca. There’s truth to that if you stick to the main thoroughfares, but go a little further and there are some really cool experiences to be had for families in these islands, including incredible snorkeling, beaches, and a very cool zipline, and some hotels we truly love.
