Why we like it for families

The Location. We adore the island of Bonaire, and think everyone should go there. Laid-back, a bit off-the-beaten-path, but also very accessible and easy to navigate with kids, Bonaire is a top Caribbean family destination. Bellafonte Bonaire is in a prime location for exploring Bonaire’s best beaches and towns. While there’s no beach on property, only direct sea access, it’s a 5-minute walk from Bachelor’s Beach, one of Bonaire’s best small beaches, and a 5-minute drive from the restaurants and shops of Kralendij, and from the airport.
The Spacious Rooms and Suites. This small apartment-style hotel has only 22 rooms, including one- and two-bedroom suites that are perfect for families, with full kitchens, expansive living rooms, and ocean views.
The Concierge. Bonaire Bellafonte is a cross between a luxury waterfront apartment rental and a boutique hotel. While the rooms are set-up like self-catering apartments, Bellafonte Bonaire offers the services and facilities of a boutique hotel, including housekeeping, an on-site restaurants, room service, dive facilities, and private chef offerings.
The Direct Sea Access. We do not recommend this hotel for young children because there is no pool or on-site beach – just a plunge pool for a quick refresh. But the highlight of the property is the stunning private pier that offers plenty of space for sunbathing and direct access to top-notch snorkeling in the calm Caribbean sea. If your kids swimming well enough to snorkel or dive, no pool is needed.
The Service. Guests uniformly rave about the service at Bellafonte Bonaire, which is the thing that keeps bringing people back again and again.

Location and Activities

The Bellafonte Bonaire is 3 minutes away from the Bonaire International Airport. It’s centrally located, just a few minutes drive from Kralendijk. You can dive and snorkel right off the pier, but you’re also just a few minutes away from Bonaire’s best beaches and reefs.

We recommend renting a car in Bonaire to explore the island’s beaches and the town. Driving is easy, and a car can be rented at the airport without much trouble.

Bellafonte Bonaire sits on Bonaire’s main road, only 5 minutes from the airport. Bonaire’s airport is not busy, and noise from the airport is not a problem. But your kids may enjoy watching the occasional planes come in!
When you enter through the arched entryway of the building, your eye will immediately be drawn to the ocean view beyond. Some say Bellafonte has the best pier in Bonaire, stretching over the turquoise sea like something out of a painting.
Relax on the private pier and bring your snorkel. Guests report seeing turtles, eel, squid, and loads of reef fish while snorkeling just off the pier.
While there is no restaurant on-site, Bellafonte Bonaire partners with The Beach restaurant right next door to offer room service (or pier-service if you’d prefer to take a meal by the water). Many other restaurants and food trucks are a quick drive up the road.
The sundeck has a small plunge pool, but it’s not really a pool for kids to swim around in. That’s why we only recommend staying here if your kids are old enough to enjoy swimming off the pier. If so, then Bellafonte makes a great homebase for a family to explore the island.
The 1-bedroom Senior Suites and 2-bedroom Grand Suites have plenty of space for families, with full living rooms, balconies, and kitchens. Grocery packages are available to have food waiting for you upon arrival, always nice after a travel day with kids.

This is a top notch hotel with impeccable customer services. Everyone we came in contact with or communicated was outstanding. All the interns at the hotel- Ashley, Robin, Laura, Juul, the hotel manager (I will misspell her name if I try) were all phenomenal. LT, the CEO of the property, was there almost every day checking on little details to make sure everything was in tip top shape. The room was big, clean with a fridge and a microwave. The pier that takes out to the sea is one of the best features. The snorkeling just out from the pier is just about as good as it gets. We saw a sea turtle, eel, barracuda, squid and tons of other fish just snorkeling around the pier. The social hour on Thursday was a special treat to meet the residents at the time and to get to know the special people that work at the Bellafonte. I can’t recommend this hotel enough with everything they offer. I can’t think of anything they could’ve done more or better while we were there.

Our stay at The Bellefonte Bonaire couldn’t have been more perfect! From beautiful views of the water, palms, and passing sailboats to gorgeous sunsets in the evening (and an occasional colorful parrot or parakeet) all from our balcony! Rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Grounds are beautiful and well kept! And location is great with dive/snorkeling sites close by (including a private entry straight off of the private dock) and a dive shop across the street for all equipment. Great restaurants close by as well! But most of all the staff made us feel so welcomed and like we were home away from home, but in paradise! We were treated so graciously like family. And each and everyone were so kind, engaging and accommodating! Everything was perfect! Thanks for a fantastic stay!! Already planning our next visit and our stay wont be anywhere but at the Bellefonte!!!
