Why we like it for families

THE RESIDENCES. With multi-bedroom suites and oceanfront homes, families of all sizes will have no problem finding a home-away-from-home at Las Terrazas. Most of the 36 unites include fully equipped kitchens and washers and dryers – music to parents’ ears. Grocery stocking services are available, with a nearby bodega also reachable by golf cart for snacks and other basics.
THE FAMILY-FRIENDLY DETAILS. A Virtuoso-approved hotel, Las Terrazas has the luxury touches and attention to detail that can make a stay. Lounge at the infinity pool and you’ll be hard pressed not to relax immediately. For families, you’ll find pack n plays, high chairs at the restaurant, and infant life jackets. The staff will arrange boat excursions, which can pick you up right at the dock.
THE BEACH AND POOL SETUP. Whether you’re lounging on a hammock or in one of the resort’s cabanas, Las Terrazas’ private beach paradise guarantees a calm and peaceful vibe. Kids will love digging in the pristine white sand. If they’re in a playful mood, beach volleyball, giant Jenga, and corn hole are just a few of the games available beachside. Note that Las Terrazas’s beach has a rock wall to keep the beach clean from seaweed, with the best swimming off the end of the dock, and best reserved for independent swimmers. Littler swimmers will thrive by the infinity pool.
BABYSITTING. Babysitting is offered, typically by staff members, which provides a level of accountability we appreciate. But even when not specifically babysitting, resort staff will help your kids feel right at home, perhaps with coconut-tree-climbing lessons, starfish-holding, and iguana-catching tutorials.
WATERSPORTS. For adventurous families, Las Terrazas offers plenty of watersports equipment on a first-come, first-served basis. Hop into a kayak or onto a paddle board for a seafaring view of Ambergris Caye. Aqua bikes and Hobie cats (small sailing catamarans) are also available.

Location and Activities

Getting to Las Terrazas in Ambergis Caye requires a 20-minute hopper flight (or 90 minute ferry ride) from Belize’s main international airport, the Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport. While the hopper flight may seem like a bit extra step, it only adds about 1.5 – 2 hours to your overall travel time. To make it easy for you, Lass Terrazas will handle it all, offering a package to travelers that includes coordinating your domestic flight and arranging the 10-minute boat transfer to the hotel once you land.

Once on property, your main form of transportation will be golf cart. Las Terrazas encourages every guest to rent one for their duration of their stay. The hotel is about a 40-minute golf cart ride north of the main town of San Pedro. Other beaches and restaurants are just a short ride away, but the property has an air of being away from it all.

When you arrive at Las Terrazas, the helpful and welcoming staff will personally greet you and whisk away your bags, guiding you to the outdoor palapa lobby for check-in, a rum punch, and a refreshingly cold eucalyptus towel. The stress will begin to melt away. The professional and multilingual concierge staff will be happy to help you with restaurant reservations, excursions, and any questions you might have about your time in Ambergis Caye.
Las Terrazas Resort features 36 residential units surrounding a centerpiece infinity pool with in-water lounge chairs. Residences include six Penthouses, each with two or three bedrooms, large balcony space and a plunge pool. There are also 19 elegantly designed Resort View Residences, ranging from one- to three-bedrooms, which will be the best choice for most small families. Multigenerational families or groups of friends can book one of the four 2-story Oceanfront Sea Houses steps from the beach. And the more budget conscious families can grab a Lagoon Residence, sacrificing a view but not the amenities.
The residences have kitchens, but there’s a great restaurant too! O Restaurant offers gourmet dining for all three meals, with a focus on fresh seafood and local ingredients. Order cocktails and fresh juices by the pool, and don’t miss sunset from the Rooftop Sky Lounge above the restaurant.
The beautiful private beach at Las Terrazas Resort is ideal for relaxing in the sun. When you get too hot, take a dive off the end of the dock into the clear swimming hole, or take a snorkel out for a spin.
Take advantage of available babysitting to make sure of the on-site 5-star PADI dive center, offering guided tours to some of the top dive locations in the world, or take diving and snorkeling classes.
If calm and quiet is more your speed for time away from your kiddos, unwind and revitalize with a selection of body treatments, facials, and massages at Serenity Spa.
Family-friendly activities beyond the resort—accessible by bicycle, golf cart, or boat—include boat rentals, Mayan ruins, an iguana sanctuary, a chocolate and candy store, and a playground in town.

Absolutely loved this resort! Our family of 11 just returned from the best vacation! We stepped off the plane and were greeted by a driver who took our bags and drove us to our boat which took us to the resort. We were immediately welcomed at the resort with a super friendly staff. They were quick to grab our luggage and show us the resort and answer any questions we had. The rooms were great, the food on the resort was very good, the drinks were great. Every single staff member was so nice, so accommodating, fun to talk to, and truly wanted us to have a great time – which we did! Something that we loved was that they made a point to get to know us, referring to us as “The Big Family”. Concierge went out of their way to help us plan a couple excursions, we ordered groceries that were delivered and put away by the time we arrived.. The pool area was super fun, we had a fabulous dinner at the rooftop restaurant, breakfast was delicious, we loved every bit of it! We are thankful for a fun family Thanksgiving vacation!

This is not a review from a first time visitor, this was our 9th stay at Las Terrazas. And we keep returning for a very good reason, there is simply no better place on earth. The resort is a perfect fit for my wife and I and recently we have started bringing our older teenage kids, friends and family. The food is outstanding, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the customer service is top notch. As a diverse family, we have a wide variety of expectations. My wife prefers to sit and read and enjoy a few drinks from the bar. My sons prefer to fish, kayak, snorkel and be active. My daughter and I like to dive at the reef and relax by the pool and beach. At LT you can do it all and everyone can do their own thing. We enjoyed trips in to town, visiting the neighboring resorts, and exploring “the neighborhood” but we were always happy that our base was Las Terrazas. Thanks to all of the amazing staff. We will be back again soon!
