Why we like it for families

  • IT’S THE FULL PACKAGE. Travelers reviews consistently emphasize that The Somerset overdelivers in all respects: spacious rooms, stunning views, an intimate property, a great location, and amazing stuff. Once you stay at this Turks and Caicos family resort, you may be hooked.
  • THE ROOMS. It’s the spacious family suites at the Somerset that make it one of the best family resorts in Turks and Caicos. Suites range from one to five bedrooms, and come in at varying price points, offering something for everyone. The residences in the garden have a townhome feel, while the estate villas provide steps-from-the-beach luxury.
  • THE PROPERTY. We love small hotels, especially when designed in a way that can give your kids freedom of movement. The Somerset on Grace Bay Beach does it, using its beachfront location wisely. There’s a croquet lawn, a reverse current lap pool, a kiddie pool, and a stunning infinity edge steps from the beach.
  • THE BEACH. The Somerset sits on Grace Bay Beach, one of the Caribbean’s best for kids and grown-ups alike. We love that the infinity pool overlooks the beach, so it’s always within sight, and never a far walk with kids.
  • THE KIDS’ CLUB. It’s tough to find boutique hotels in the Caribbean with kids’ club, but once again the Somerset delivers as a luxury family resort that takes care of all your needs. The Caicos Kids Club accepts kids ages 3-12 and is more than just an indoor babysitting space; the resort organizes everything from beach games to movie nights to sandcastle competitions to help keep your little ones entertained, and you truly relaxed.

Location and Activities

The Somerset on Grace Bay is a luxury family hotel right on Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales – known as one of the Caribbean’s best beaches – just a short 15-minute drive from Providenciales International Airport (PLS). While it may be hard to leave the comfort of the beach and pool, there’s a lot to do in Providenciales beyond the resort!

  • The Somerset sits right on Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, which is internationally acclaimed as one of the best beaches in the Caribbean, if not the world. If you want to be steps from translucent turquoise waters and velvety white sands, this is the place to be. Its prime location offers convenient access to various shops and restaurants, all within walking distance.
  • As you enter the Grace Bay beach resort, you’ll immediately feel a sense of home, as friendly and attentive staff will assist you with check-in and provide any information you may need.
  • To the left of reception is the garden-side of the property. Three buildings surround a grassy lawn (where you can play croquet when you need a beach break): Barbetta Restaurant, the Residences (entry level townhome-style suites) and the Caicos Kids’ Club.
  • Barbetta House, the on-site restaurant, presents a thoughtfully curated menu inspired by the flavors of the Southern Mediterranean and Caribbean. The menu at Barbetta House caters to a range of dietary preferences, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. And of course, if you want to have a private meal – or need to get the kids down early – room service is also available.
  • Turn right to head towards the beach, and you’ll soon be captivated by the pools at the center of the resort, which seem to flow into one another. A reverse lap pool – the only one in Turks and Caicos – runs the length of the middle courtyard, ending at the kiddie pool, which in turn leads to the zero entry infinity pool overlooking the sea. There’s a pool for every need and, perhaps the best part is, they are so close to each other that you’ll never waste your time or energy shuffling around changing lounge chairs.
  • The Somerset features 53 distinctively designed suites, ranging from the Residences in the garden to the Estate Villas near the beach and pool. They are huge compared to your standard hotel rooms, relatively affordable family suites compared to other luxury options in Turks and Caicos, and they all have kitchens.
  • At the top of the pool is the Stirling House, home to the Pool Villas (ground floor) and Ocean View Villas (upper floors). Then, on other side of the pool heading down to the beach, you’ll see the Estate Villas, with each floor housing a multi-bedroom suite. These are the most spacious rooms, great for groups of multigenerational families.
  • The concierge at the Somerset family beach resort is available to assist you in organizing exciting activities such as kayaking, parasailing, or boat excursions. Keep an eye out for the charming Jojo, the friendly resident dolphin who is known to make appearances.
  • With older kids, take advantage of the resort’s complimentary bicycles to explore the town and its surroundings.
  • Don’t miss the weekly barbecue, bonfire, and live music on the beach every Tuesday, or the S’mores night on Mondays that coincides with a manager’s cocktail hour.
  • As highlighted above, treat your kids to the Caicos Kids Club. It’s designed for kids age 3-12, and is located in the garden near the croquet lawn. Babysitting services are available for a fee, too.
  • Adjacent to the reception, you’ll find the fitness room, spa, and steam room.

Just can’t get enough! This was our 4th time staying at Somerset and 3rd time with kids and we’ll continue to go back! From the pristine grounds to the terrific rooms to the proximity to the beach it doesn’t get better than Somerset. There are lots of great properties on Grace Bay but we keep returning due to the friendly staff and our daughter (5) LOVES Miss Sharon who runs the Kids Club. She does amazing activities on a daily basis and connects so well with children. To be able to have your child spend time with someone you trust and who they love spending time with takes the vacation to another level. Don’t miss the kids movie night or s’mores night which coincides with the manager’s happy hour.

Best beachfront on grace bay My family of 4 (2 kids age 13 and 17) recently stayed at the somerset. Turks was busier than usual with it being Christmas break but Somerset still felt relaxing. We had no problems finding chairs at the pool or the beach. The beach in front of the somerset really is the prettiest on grace bay. We had a car but for daily exercise, we used the complimentary bikes or walked to shops and cafes. The Somerset staff really are amazing. On Monday night, there were s’mores for the kids and drinks/hot d’ouvres for the adults by the pool with live music. The massage therapist at the spa was excellent. We stayed in a 1 bdrm 2 bath townhouse (1B) which was recently updated with a spacious master bdrm and 2 twin beds up in the loft. It was very clean and brightly lit. Everything about our stay was pleasant and convenient.
