Why we like it for families

  • THE POOLS. Parrot Key Hotel & Villas boasts four luxurious tropical pools, one specifically designated as a family pool where kids are free to splash around to their hearts’ content. Each pool is surrounded by palm trees and other island greenery, creating a secluded vibe unlike the typical loud and boisterous resort pool.
  • THE BEACH. The resort has a great stretch of sand for playing, but a rock wall prevents swimming from its shores. However, Parrot Key provides a complimentary shuttle service to nearby Smathers Beach (just two miles away), known as one of the best beaches in Key West. Parrot Key makes it easy for you to enjoy the beach, as shuttle service includes beach towels and chairs, and the hotel has beach toys ready to borrow. Families can indulge in any number of watersports activities, ranging from paddle boarding and kayaking to parasailing (Parrot Key guests get exclusive discounts when they book in advance).
  • KIDS’ MENU. The Grove, Parrot Key’s on-site restaurant, is open from morning to evening, and offers a special menu for kids upon request.
  • FAMILY GAME TIME. If you and the kids are ready to take a break from the nonstop water activities, Parrot Key has plenty of family-friendly games at the ready. Yahtzee, paddle ball, and bocce ball are available upon request, as well as a special kids’ scavenger hunt. Activities and amenities at this resort are geared more towards school-aged kids than babies and toddlers.
  • STAY AND PLAY PACKAGE. Parrot Key offers a family-centric package including the aforementioned games and scavenger hunt, a three-night stay in one of the hotel’s suites or villas, a $100 food and beverage credit, an in-room welcome amenity, and a dolphin boat tour.

  • Parrot Key, located in northern Key West, is just outside the city’s core. The location allows you easy access to the hustle and bustle of downtown, but offers a tiny slice of heaven to retreat at days’ end.
  • When you reach the hotel, which is a quick 10-minute drive from the Key West International Airport, you will be welcomed by the lobby’s beautifully patterned wood flooring and blue and white accents. It’s impossible not to fall in love with this island hideaway and its pristine white cottage-style lodging. The hotel’s interior decor, which features hardwood furniture, crisp white linens, and vibrant accents, is a contemporary spin on the classic Caribbean flair.
  • There are plenty of room categories, but families can really stretch out in the one- and two-bedroom suites, and the three-bedroom villas, which have more of a condo feel than a standard hotel room.
  • The Grove Kitchen & Bar serves poolside meals from sunup to sundown, offering a kids’ menu upon request. For adults, menu highlights include the grilled grouper sandwich and the roast pork Cuban burger. Plus, the Key lime pie martini and the Hendrick’s Key lime gimlet are two cocktails that positively scream, “When in the Florida Keys…”.
  • The hotel’s four heated pools are spread out across five lushly cultivated acres, with one designated for families, and another specifically for adults, parents have a place to catch a break when they need it. For kids who love sand, there’s a beach area where they can play.
  • The concierge will be happy to arrange boating, kayaking, parasailing, jet skiing, tennis, and golf excursions.
  • Parrot Key also has a modest gym for guests needing to get in a workout.
  • While there is no spa on-site, Parrot Key has partnered with a local Key West spa allowing you to book a wide array of massages, facials, and other body treatments directly from the hotel’s website.

Wonderful accommodations! My siblings and I gathered with some extended family for a bit of a reunion and stayed for 4 nights. The villa some of us stayed in was lovely. Also loved the pools and all the wonderful foliage. Felt like we were in the jungle! The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Across the street were plenty of places to get groceries, meals, etc. Even though the resort was in a busy part of town, you didn’t know it after driving in. I would definitely stay there again!

Family Get Away Parrott Key offered everything at our fingertips for a great adult family get away. They were very helpful in providing additional services when we needed. The staff service was great. Their pools are very clean and the grounds around the villas make for a peaceful tranquil experience. I plan on returning in 2023 for another great couples long weekend. Having golf carts available on the grounds was a must.
