Why we like it for families

  • It’s the full package. Mount Cinnamon consistently gets five-star reviews, and travelers emphasize all aspects of the resort: the spacious rooms, ocean views, sprawling property, direct beach access, delicious breakfasts, and, above all, amazing and attentive staff.
  • The rooms. If you’ve read our Grenada destination guide (or any of our Grenada hotel reviews), you’ll know we love cooking in Grenada. St. George’s produce market is simply the best. At Mount Cinnamon, you get the benefit of a full kitchen, plus the amenities of a resort, for maximum flexibility.
  • The property. Mount Cinnamon has a stretch of beachfront property, but its rooms are set on the hillside with ocean views. What makes Mount Cinnamon unique for a beachfront resort is the sprawling, lush green property that connects the beach and hill. The hotel takes advantage of the space, with activities like shuffleboard, horseshoes, croquet, giant garden chess, beach volleyball, and table tennis.
  • The beach. Mount Cinnamon sits on Grenada’s epic Grand Anse beach, one of the Caribbean’s best for kids and grown-ups alike. The hotel provides kayaks, paddle boards, hobie cat sailing, masks and snorkels for daily use. There’s also a dive center. Be aware, though: because the rooms and restaurants are on the hillside, it’s about a ¼ mile walk (or golf cart ride) down the hill and through the garden to the beach.
  • The kids’ club. Mount Cinnamon runs a Montessori-inspired kids’ club during high-season.

Location and Activities

Mount Cinnamon is just 10 minutes away from Grenada’s Maurice Bishop International Airport.

We encourage you to rent a car to explore Grenada’s beaches, towns, and rainforest. That said, because Mount Cinnamon is right on Grenada’s best beach and within walking distance of several other hotels, bars, and restaurants, you could certainly make due without a car. Mount Cinnamon’s website describes the available resort and island activities.

  • Mount Cinnamon Resort is less than 10 minutes from the airport. It sits on a steep hillside above Grand Anse beach, close to Grenada’s best restaurants and grocery stores.
  • The ocean-view suites and villas at Mount Cinnamon offer plenty of space for families and are equipped with full kitchens and private ocean-view balconies.
  • The décor at Mount Cinnamon resort is classic Caribbean colorful, with pops of lime green and rattan furniture. That won’t be for everyone, but suits those who like something charming and authentic. That said, the hotel’s newest junior suites – the Cinnamon Suites – have a more modern and refined Greek-inspired look.
  • The pool – surrounded by beach chairs in bright primary colors – sits in a courtyard near the main building. This is not the best pool in Grenada, but it’s big and refreshing – Mount Cinnamon focuses on its beach amenities over the pool, for sure.
  • Rather than spend time at the pool, you’re likely to head to the Beach Cabana – a beach club and bar down at the waterfront that will set you up with beach loungers and all the watersport gear you and your kids will ever need, including diving. Spa treatments are also available at the beach club.
  • Savvy’s restaurant serves Caribbean dishes featuring local ingredients. Don’t miss the nutmeg ice-cream (here, or anywhere else in Grenada when its offered). Guests rave about the delicious breakfast, with homemade pastries and local fruits and jams. Lunch is served at the Beach Cabana on Grand Anse.

Traveler Reviews

My family and I have just spent an INCREDIBLE 2 weeks at Mount Cinnamon in Grenada. Cannot rave enough about the fantastic staff and gorgeous villa – not to mention unbeatable position right on Grand Anse. The 3-bedroom villa was very well appointed, housekeeping was exceptional – the children got very use to the good night cookies that were dropped in each night! . . . By far the best part of Mount Cinnamon is the beach cabana which is positioned right on the beach. It really is the perfect spot.

My husband and I, along with our 3 month old baby, spent 3 weeks at Mount Cinnamon during my maternity leave. . . As a first time mom, I was very nervous about everything we would need. The staff at Mt Cinnamon was incredibly communicative in the months before the trip – helping me to arrange everything from a babysitter to a crib, mosquito nets, baby bathtub, and even black-out shades (thank you Shauna, Carlene, and Ivor)…. As seasoned travelers and uptight New Yorkers, we had high expectations and this hotel exceeded them all. The food was incredible at every meal, the villa was so comfortable it felt like home, the walk to the beach was picturesque, and above all, the staff went out of their way to take care of guests. I found all of this to be a very unique and special combination, something that couldn’t be found at a chain hotel.
