Why we like it for families

  • The Rooms. Maison Mère stands out in Paris for one simple reason: the rooms are truly comfortable. That’s not something to take for granted in this city. With plush beds, crisp linens, reliable air conditioning, and tasteful decor, the rooms invite rest. For families, the real perk is the layout. The Friends & Family Suite offers two connecting rooms that provide both space and privacy. The Royal Palace Suite, a loft-like space under the eaves, includes a private hammam and accommodates up to four—perfect for families who want a little indulgence after a long day of sightseeing.
  • The Location. Instead of crowds and chaos, you’ll find a peaceful slice of Parisian life just outside the hotel doors. Located on Rue Rochambeau in the 9th arrondissement, Maison Mère sits on a quiet street that becomes pedestrian-only in the evenings—ideal for letting kids roam while you sip wine at one of the neighborhood’s Italian or French bistros. A small playground is just down the block, and the Cadet metro station is a three-minute walk away. For families exploring Paris, being this close to transit makes a big difference. Montmartre is an easy 15-minute stroll, and both Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est are nearby for day trips or onward travel.
  • The Staff. From the moment you check in, the staff at Maison Mère go out of their way to make families feel welcome. One guest described how they personalized a birthday stay for her child, complete with a kids’ package and thoughtful extras. The team is genuinely warm, full of local tips, and happy to help—whether you need a high chair, a last-minute dinner reservation, or just a friendly face after a long day.
  • The Food. When you’re traveling with kids, having great food options on-site—and nearby—can make or break a stay. Maison Mère delivers on both. The hotel’s Nectar restaurant serves an elegant three- or five-course tasting menu (yes, even in a boutique setting), and the cocktails at the Hey Honey bar are as good as any you’ll find in the city. If your kids aren’t up for a sit-down meal, the surrounding street offers delicious pizza and casual dining just steps away.
  • The Value. For a boutique hotel in Paris with this much character, Maison Mère offers excellent value—especially if you’re booking connecting rooms or one of the suites. You’re getting a stylish, well-run home base in a family-friendly neighborhood, without the price tag of more central (and often less comfortable) options. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back—not just to Paris, but to this exact street.

Location and Activities

Maison Mère is located in Paris’s 9th arrondissement, a neighborhood that balances authentic charm with convenience. Just a 3-minute walk from the Cadet metro station, the hotel makes it easy to explore Paris with kids without relying too heavily on little legs. Major landmarks like Montmartre are within walking distance, and you’re well connected to the rest of the city via public transit.

Evenings on Rue Rochambeau feel worlds away from tourist crowds. The street becomes pedestrian-only, transforming into a relaxed, family-friendly dining zone with several casual bistros and a nearby playground. For families arriving by train or planning day trips, Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est are just a short walk away—another reason Maison Mère is such a practical base for exploring Paris.

  • Maison Mère sits quietly on Rue Rochambeau in the 9th arrondissement, a part of Paris that feels charmingly local. The tree-lined street, dotted with classic Haussmann buildings, sets a calm and residential tone. Inside, the hotel blends modern Parisian design with curated art and cozy corners—elegant without ever feeling too formal.
  • Rooms are decorated in soft neutrals, with blackout curtains, built-in USB ports, and well-placed lighting that adds both function and comfort. Some rooms offer small Juliet balconies, perfect for sipping a morning coffee while watching the street come to life. Families will appreciate thoughtful touches like extra storage space and the ability to comfortably fit a crib or stroller in many of the suites.
  • Dining is a highlight here. Nectar, the hotel’s on-site restaurant, serves a seasonal tasting menu focused on natural, locally sourced ingredients. Adjacent to the lobby, the Hey Honey bar offers inventive cocktails in the evening and strong espresso in the mornings—great for unwinding after bedtime or fueling up before a day of exploring.
  • Beyond food, Maison Mère leans into its identity as a hybrid hotel. Communal spaces include a cozy coworking café, rotating art exhibits, and occasional events like jazz nights or yoga sessions. These features offer a cultural layer to your stay and make it feel more like you’re part of a neighborhood than passing through.
  • For families, there are a few thoughtful extras that aren’t always obvious. The staff is happy to personalize kids’ stays—like leaving a small surprise for a birthday—or adapt meals to suit picky eaters. While there’s no formal kids’ club, the lobby includes a small toy nook, and the easy access to a nearby playground helps fill in the gaps.
  • Additional amenities include 24-hour front desk support, daily housekeeping, luggage storage, and airport transfers on request. Cribs and rollaway beds can be reserved in advance, and small dogs are welcome. There’s also limited on-site parking, which is helpful for families arriving by car.

Traveler Reviews

I visited Paris with my son for a few days for his 10th Birthday and we stayed at Maison Mère. I can’t recommend this hotel enough, I included the kids package and they put in a lot of effort to make it an incredible and personal experience for him. The staff on reception, the restaurant staff at breakfast and the staff that prepare the rooms were all incredible during the stay.

The hotel is clean, comfortable and beautiful. The breakfast was great and it felt like any request I had was no problem. From arriving in the middle of the night (due to flight delays) to leaving, they couldn’t have done a better job. So thank you to all the staff there that I encountered on my trip and I will hopefully be back.

The best Paris stay!

We cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and we were in Paris during heat wave and the air-conditioning worked great! The location was so great, especially for a family because it was right beside the playground and easy walking to a delicious bakery, restaurants, and the metro.

They were so accommodating when we had to rearrange some nights of our stay. We also lost a beloved stuffed animal and they contacted us two weeks later to let us know it was found and mailed it back.
