Why we like it for families

  • THE SUITES. Little Good Harbour markets itself as a “home away from home,” and there is no doubt, upon entering their beautifully appointed suites, that they’ve achieved that goal. With kitchens, ensuite bathrooms, and amenities like dishwashers and washer/dryers in the larger suites, it’s hardly surprising that this is a family-run hotel. The suites are in one-, two-, and three-bedroom configurations, allowing for families of all sizes to sleep comfortably in paradise.
  • THE KITCHENS. Fully equipped kitchens are a very welcome amenity for most families traveling with kids. The Little Good Harbour staff will gladly pre-stock your suite with groceries upon request (72 hours in advance is recommended). They’ll get your grocery list started by recommending essential items like milk, eggs, juice, pancake mix and syrup, eliminating the tedious task of writing it up yourself.
  • THE AMENABLE STAFF. If you let them, the dedicated staffers at Little Good Harbour will make sure you never have to lift a finger during your stay. With a focus on customer service, the warm and friendly hotel employees can book excursions, arrange car rentals, and help with any other details that will make your family stay a success. The same goes for the Fish Pot restaurant – one of the most popular in Barbados! – who will gladly provide child-friendly dishes on request.
  • THE BEACH AND POOLS. The pristine, white-sand beach at Little Good Harbour – a short walk from the main hotel areas – is calm, not crowded, and has fantastic snorkeling. When you need a beach break, there are two small pools that are ideal for kids – and parents too! The larger one, just outside the Little Spa, offers cushioned wicker lounge chairs and a small Baja shelf perfect for splashing. The second, smaller one in a sunken courtyard, is a peaceful location for cooling down.
  • THE LOCATION. Little Good Harbour’s location is not for everyone: It’s a bit out of the way, with only one restaurant nearby. But for families who don’t love big resorts, and prefer to spend days exploring and nights away from the crowds, the location is a sure selling point.

Location and Activities

It takes about 45 minutes to drive from Barbados’s Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) on the island’s southern shore to Little Good Harbour’s location on the northwest coast. Little Good Harbour is situated in the quiet fishing town of Shermans, right along a calm stretch of the Caribbean Sea, away from the island’s main resort areas.

  • A family-operated hotel in a peaceful area of Barbados, Little Good Harbour combines the intimacy of private villas with the conveniences of a hotel.
  • Start by picturing charming colonial-style buildings nestled amid lush tropical gardens, which create a calming vibe. The suites and cottages have a stylish yet welcoming décor that reflects the island’s colonial heritage while adding contemporary facilities. and fine linens, to ensure guests’ comfort. The rooms are decorated in soft shades of beige and white, with accents of coral, blue, and green, evoking the calming colors of the ocean and the island’s tropical landscape. Note that only the bedrooms have air-conditioning, not the central living areas.
  • Note that the beach at Little Good Harbour is across a somewhat-busy road from the main hotel areas, including the pools. There are a handful of beachfront rooms, though, which should be the top pick for families who want that proximity to the sea. The beach is secluded and pristine, with enough loungers, umbrellas, and beach towels for all guests.
  • If you’re interested in exploring the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea, snorkeling is available right off the beach at Little Good Harbour – a major selling point of this hotel, in our opinion. Additional watersports such as paddleboarding, surfing, and sailing can also be arranged through the hotel. There is also a private water taxi service right at Little Good Harbour’s dock, where Captain Dwayne offers numerous coastal tours of the area for an additional fee.
  • Little Good Harbour is happy to welcome families with children, offering amenities such as cribs and rollaway beds for little ones. The hotel also provides babysitting services upon request, giving parents the opportunity to enjoy some alone time during their island getaway.
  • The on-site Fish Pot Restaurant is on the pricey side. Far from your average hotel restaurant, though, it attracts diners from all over Barbados. The Fish Pot serves local Barbadian meals and the freshest seafood around, along with a diverse collection of wines, all with a beachfront location. If your little ones are still craving chicken fingers and fries, the kitchen staff at Fish Pot will be more than happy to prepare child-friendly dishes upon request. Room service is available.
  • Little Good Harbour also has a small fitness center (admittedly somewhat dark, not a top feature of the hotel) and a modest spa offering a range of treatments designed to soothe the mind, body, and soul. Available treatments include massages, facials, and body wraps and scrubs.

Fantastic experience for a family of 5 made possible by a great team! We stayed her as a family of 5 (3 young kids) in July 22. The team at Little Good Harbour were great and made our stay very special indeed. The vibe here is very relaxed, the staff are exceptionally helpful, friendly and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and hassle free. Huge thanks to Trevor and Javon. Fish Pot is a real treat. Having dined right across the island we can confidently say this is amongst the very best made extra special by the exceptional team. Junior is a legend! We’ll be back for more very soon!!

Deserves more that five stars! We stopped here for the first three nights of our holiday in Barbados before a week’s cruise. To be blunt if I could give it 10 stars I would. We arrived fairly late after been held up waiting for baggage at the airport, after a long day traveling from the U.K. the welcome from the staff was fantastic & a sign of things to come. Frankly they can’t do enough for you and the are a credit to the place. We were upgraded to a 3 bedroom suite which was simply stunning. The pool areas were great and the ground and gardens fantastic, full of birds & even Green Monkeys. The Fish Pot, over the road is brilliant, but to sit on the porch of our room with the sound of the sea breaking on the beach, with a rum punch was the best start to our holiday we could have asked for. But like I said at the start, the staff make this place what it is, right down to Tommy, the resident cat. 10/10. Thanks for everything.
