Why we like it for families

  • The Size. It’s no secret that we love small, boutique hotels for family travel. Coral Sands slides right into that category. With only 36 rooms, the hotel is able to offer you a personalized experience, and help to ensure that you and your kids get exactly what you need for a stellar vacation.
  • The Beach. Many people think Harbour Island’s Pink Sand Beach is one of the nicest beaches in the world. With its light pink hue, it’s certainly one of the most unique. It’s soft, calm, and appealing to the little ones. At Coral Sands, you can spend your day relaxing under a palm thatched hut while your kids swim and explore. Don’t forget your snorkel, because the off-shore snorkeling is amazing too.
  • The Pool. Harbour Island is famous for pink sand and turquoise water, but if you also love a great pool, Coral Sand’s infinity edge pool is definitely a show-stopper. It is surrounded by lush green scenery, and comfortable sun loungers shaded under umbrellas. A shallow platform runs along the edge, perfect for young kids to have some independence in the water. It’s not a water park-type pool – that’s not why you come to Harbour Island – but it is a great feature for families.
  • The Food and Drinks. Parents and kids alike will enjoy the casual food at the Beach Bar – conch fritters, grilled pineapple, catch of the day. And, of course, ice cream for dessert. But it’s also nice to have a fine dining option, and Coral Sands offers it with French-inspired Latitude 25.
  • The Little Touches. There’s a little something for everyone at Coral Sands. For parents, it may be the pops of greenery against the white-washed walls to bring down your blood pressure. Or maybe it’s the babysitting services the hotel will arrange so you can explore Harbour Island with your partner. For kids, we especially like the library – which looks more like a game room. Bright white cabinets full of books to borrow and board games to entertain the kids, with a red pool table providing a pop of color in the middle. If you’re hoping for beach breaks that don’t involve screen time, the game room is a great perk.
Coral Sands Hotel offers Mango Tree guests VIP amenities including: Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability; $100 resort credit; Early Check-In / Late Check-Out, subject to availability; Complimentary Wi-Fi. Let’s get you VIP’d!

  • The décor at Coral Sands is calm, refreshing, and yet clearly sophisticated. When you walked into the open air lobby, one of the first things you’ll notice is the new lobby bar, added during a 2017 renovation. Bright white stools sit at a light wood bar – impeccable maintained but inviting.
  • Sands Hotel houses 38 rooms, including standard rooms, suites, and stand-alone bungalows and cottages. The guest rooms are located in two main buildings set back from the beach, and the beachfront cottages and villas are splurge-worthy. Each room has amenities that will give you’re a convenient and comfortable stay, including a kitchenette, Wi-Fi, and private balcony.
  • There are tons of activities to keep guest up and going throughout the day. Available within the hotel property are gym and yoga studios, an infinity pool, library and game room which can be enjoyed both by adults and kids, and a tennis court. Deep-sea fishing, kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving excursions can also be arranged. There is also an in-room massage service for parents who are into some serious rest and relaxation.
  • Coral Sands Hotel has both casual and fine dining option. Latitude 25 is recognized as one of the finest in the Bahamas while the Beach Bar boasts a more breathtaking spot for lunch or drinks. Both offer a view of the ocean.
  • Cribs, rollaway beds, kids’ menues and babysitting services are available on request.

Traveler Reviews

We would, indeed prefer to not tell anyone how much we love this place, but out of a sense of responsibility we must be honest. We love it here. We looked for a place that is remote, but easy to reach by plane, small, but with all the amenities, exclusive, but not rediculously expensive, kid friendly, but without a lot of screaming kids, and beautiful. This is it.

Our group of 9 (2 families: 4 adults/4 kids, ages 8-10, 1 baby, age 1) spent a week at Coral Sand’s Villa Carissa Feb. 13-20, 2021. The amazing service started well before our arrival as Aldred at the front desk answered our every question, helped with planning excursions, and made sure we had everything we would need upon our arrival. The Villa was perfect for our group with enough room and privacy to allow our kids to run a bit wild without bothering other guests, but close enough that we felt completely part of the resort. The private pool was a lifesaver and provided the perfect spot for a late afternoon swim for the kids and pre-dinner drinks for the adults. The layout of the house was a bit odd, as one bedroom can only be accessed through either of the other bedrooms, but it worked fine for us. The guest cottage (with laundry!) is great. A great escape for parents if their kids are old enough to sleep a few hundred yards away. The Resort itself was even better! The location is as good as it gets. Very central to everywhere you’ll want to be…I could go on and on about Coral Sands Resort and go on further about the beautiful and friendly people, breathtaking scenery, delicious food, and incredible art of Harbour Island. But, just go! You won’t be disappointed! We will certainly be back.
