Why we like it for families

THE COTTAGES. Botanica first caught our attention with its family cottage, flawlessly designed in calming hues for sophisticated tastes – but also practical. This two bedroom cottage has a bunk bed plus trundle, made to fit a family of five. The owners, a family of five themselves, knew how hard it was for parents with multiple children to find the right hotel, and took it upon themselves to design the solution. The one-bedroom cottages can comfortably fit small families as well.
THE KITCHENS. Botanica is for families who appreciate luxury but also trend towards the self-catering experience. There is no restaurant on site, but every cottage at Botanica has a fully equipped kitchen. The Botanica staff will arrange for grocery and/or meal delivery upon request.
THE DEDICATED STAFF. It’s always a good sign when a resort’s website lists their staffers by name, bio, and photo. That means there’s little employee turnaround, and the staff loves what they do. During your stay, you will undoubtedly get to know the smiling, welcoming faces of Kim and Linn, both of whom work tirelessly to ensure you and your family have an unforgettable vacation.
THE POOL. Although the nearby beach is a short walk away, Botanica’s pool is right outside your front door! Kids and parents alike will love splashing around in the lush tropical pool, or perhaps just soaking up the sun while relaxing either on the daybed or on one of the eight available lounge chairs. The family cottages are the closest to the pool.
THE FAMILY-FOCUSED AMENITIES. The Botanica staff is well-aware that traveling with kids requires plenty of equipment – which is why they provide a multitude of supplies to help keep everyone happy. For babies, the resort offers high chairs, pack-and-plays, baby linens, and baby bathtubs. For the older kids, there are age-appropriate toys, kid-size cutlery, and even cute little children’s bathrobes! For families heading to the beach, Botanica provides everything they’ll need for fun in the sun: Beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, coolers, snorkel gear, and beach toys. The cherry on top? Every cottage has a washer and dryer, so you can keep the whole family clean and organized.

Location and Activities

Botanica sits just a few blocks away from the infamous Seven Mile Beach, in the charming neighborhood of West Bay. Families with older kids can walk or bike to the beach but the walk might be a touch far for those traveling with little ones. In any event, we recommend renting a car to explore Grand Cayman’s other sights and beaches.

The trip from Grand Cayman’s Owen Roberts International Airport to Botanica is approximately a 15-20 minute drive. The drive takes guests through the picturesque streets of Grand Cayman, past charming Caribbean-style homes and lush landscapes.

Botanica is a tiny hotel with just 14 cottages located across the street from Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman. Give up the beachfront location in favor of an impeccably designed gem of a hotel – at a reasonable price point – designed with families in mind
The property has a sleek, stylish design with clean lines and elegant finishes. The gardens and tropical landscaping of the hotel create a soothing setting ideal for relaxation. When you look at the photos, you can feel yourself decompressing in a calm but comfortable space.
The beautiful, spacious cottages at Botanica have a bright modern design, making them a true home away from home. Each cottage is equipped with a full kitchen and washer and dryer, complimentary Wi-Fi, luxury bamboo and linen bedding, central air-conditioning, cable TV, and onsite car parking. The family cottage, our favorite, has a second bedroom with bunk beds and a trundle, specifically designed to accommodate families of five.
Botanica offers its guests an authentic connection to island life. The whole vibe of the hotel is to encourage slowing down and living in the moment. The concept is inspired by holistic values like sustainability and balance.
The small pool area is pleasantly calm with numerous lounge chairs and a daybed, and shady green areas. Guests can also relax in the pool’s integrated heated spa.
While Botanica is not directly beachfront, it is located just a short walk, bikeride, or drive from the beach. The hotel is happy to provide everything you will need for an unforgettable beach day, though, including beach toys, goggles, towels, chairs, umbrellas, snorkel gear, and even a cooler! It’s worth noting, however, that the hotel discourages guests with small children from walking to the beach, recommending they drive instead. The owners have kids and know exactly how the hot walk home to the hotel with tired little ones will feel.
Botanica also offers guests complimentary bicycles, which they can use to explore the surrounding area and reach the nearby beaches.
Botanica does not have an on-site restaurant, but the cottages come with a fully equipped kitchen for cooking meals. Another perk is the hotel offers grocery- and meal-delivery options: The staff is happy to coordinate those details prior to your visit. If you want to skip the meal preparations and eat elsewhere, Botanica is also close to several good restaurants in the area.

Nice family vacation made possible by Botanica! We rented the 2 bedroom cottage in April 2022. It was perfect – clean, bright and so modern. Having a kitchen and laundry helped manage my family of 5 for a week’s stay. We used the pool at Botanica often, which was clean and so nicely set up. Traveling with 3 children can be expensive in Grand Cayman, but staying at Botanica allowed us to have some meals at the cottage keeping things manageable. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be back for another stay.

We had an incredible stay at Botanica Luxury Cottages. From the decor, the location, the amenities and the hospitality were top notch!! The decor was beautiful and modern. The perfect carribean escape. The location was only a few minute walk to the beach and a short drive to all the main attractions. I wouldn’t think twice about staying anywhere else on the island. The cottage was equipped with everything you could need to make yourself comfortable. They even set up welcome snacks and cocktails. The property was stunning and we took full advantage for the pool. We were traveling with our 2.5 year old and his favorite part of the trip was playing in Botanica’s gorgeous pool. Beyond the beautiful cottage and amenities was the hospitality. Kim welcomed us and was extremely helpful throughout the whole stay. Our flight was canceled on our arrival date and they made sure to shift our stay so we wouldn’t miss out on a night in their beautiful property. At the end of our trip, they melted our hearts by providing us with a babymoon gift for our new baby on the way. Don’t think twice. Book Botanica. It’s home away from home and we will surely be back soon.
