Why we like it for families

  • The location. Bequia is a tiny gem of an island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with all the Caribbean charm you could hope for. Bequia Plantation Hotel’s waterfront location in Admiralty Bay is hard to beat. It’s a 3-minute drive from the ferry dock, and just a short waterfront stroll from the island’s hot spots. In one direction, you can tackle the hillside stairs of Belmont Walkway to access Princess Margaret Beach — uniformly known as the island’s best. In the other direction, you’ll be steps away from Mac’s Pizza & Kitchen, Bequia Dive Adventures, and more. The sunsets are incredible.
  • The rooms. Bequia Plantation Hotel is not a luxury choice, but families will be comfortable here in the well-appointed rooms. The unassuming, pastel blue cottages give off 1950s island vibes – but with modern and well-considered furnishings. Stay here to kick off your shoes and settle into a chill Caribbean holiday at an affordable price tag.
  • The beach. The property sits on the beach at Admiralty Bay, with unbeatable harbor views. The beach itself is small and flat, better for walking or kayak-launching than swimming. But young kids can safely play on its shores. The better beach, though, for sandcastles and swimming, is Princess Margaret Beach, less than 10 minute walk away.
  • The property. Just off the beach, you can’t help but notice Bequia Plantation Hotel’s big lawn surrounding the main house. We love hotels with green space for kids to run around during beach breaks, and Bequia Plantation Hotel checks that box.
  • The food. Bequia Plantation Hotel’s casual, open-air, beachfront restaurant offers a fantastic atmosphere for families. The food is simple, but parents of picky eaters can rest easy that it offers something for everyone. Known for its brick oven pizzas, the chef also prepares a catch-of-the-day pasta, Caribbean Roti, and other locally-inspired favorites.

  • Most of the 22 rooms at Bequia Plantation Hotel are found in stand-alone cottages near the gardens and beach. Each cottage comes with a kitchenette (sink, fridge, microwave) and coffee machines. Rollaway beds are provided free for children under age 5. An extra rollaway bed for children over 5 is $20 per night.
  • Meals are served at the open-air beachfront restaurant, highlighting local ingredients. The Bed & Breakfast package includes daily breakfast. An Escape Package also includes dinner, daily fruit shakes, and a trip to Mustique or the Tobago Keys.
  • There is an almond shaped pool in the gardens, but it’s a bit on the small side. This hotel is best for families who expect to spend more time at the beach, exploring the island, or on the water – rather than lounging at the pool.
  • Guests have unlimited access to the hotel’s paddle boards and kayaks, and the calm waters of Admiralty Bay offer a great launching place.

Traveler Reviews

Jimmy and his team looked after us amazingly during our stay at Plantation House. The villas are simple but super comfortable. My partner and i were there for 2 weeks with 2 kids and had the best time – swimming in the pool, sea, snorkelling, exploring the island etc. The hotel was the perfect place to stay being in an excellent central location. Beachfront and easy to walk into town or towards Princess Margaret’s beach or Lower bay – each with their own charm. The island is super safe and friendly and particularly excellent for kids. I dont know if Plantation House do larger Villa’s but ours was perfect for a family of four. Can’t recommend more highly.

We stayed here with our grand children and found it a great hotel with Princess Margaret beach so close and its own beach on the doorstep. Everyone was very tolerant of our two year old and the seaparate villa layout meant that we could retreat when things got noisy. Food could also be sold on the balcony so baby sitting wasn’t required. We stayed on after our grandchildren left and can say that the normal quiet atmosphere was much to our liking! Villas were very comfortable and have been recently renovated. Great location for walking along the sea edge into town, past a large range of good eating/drinking places.
