Why we like it for families

  • A Luxury Choice. There are luxury hotels, and then there are luxury hotels that truly understand what it means to travel with kids. Armancette is the latter. From the moment you arrive, the staff knows your name—and your children’s too. It’s the kind of place where your little ones get kid-sized robes and slippers laid out on their beds, and where coloring supplies show up before the menu does. It’s high-end and personalized, without being pretentious. You feel well taken care of—and so do your kids.
  • The Rooms. With just 19 rooms and suites, more than half of which are designed to accommodate families, Armancette punches far above its weight. There are two-bedroom layouts with twin beds, duplexes with bunks, and even large chalets with kitchens and multiple bedrooms. Families of four to six will find options that feel both luxurious and practical. The rooms are individually styled, tastefully cozy, and thoughtfully laid out so everyone can sleep—and relax—comfortably.
  • The Pool and Spa. After a morning on the mountain or an afternoon exploring town, there’s nothing better than unwinding in the hotel’s indoor-outdoor pool. Kids are welcome and can float between the spa jets while you sneak in a sauna break. With views of Mont Blanc and loungers around the pool deck, it’s easy to linger. There are also three Jacuzzis, steam rooms, and a hammam, making it easy for grown-ups to feel pampered—even with kids in tow.
  • The Location. Saint-Gervais-les-Bains is a gem of a town, quieter than nearby Chamonix and more relaxed than glam MegeĚ€ve—but just as convenient to both. You’ll have access to the same ski lift system as MegeĚ€ve in winter, plus endless hiking and summer adventures just outside your door. It’s a peaceful Alpine home base with postcard views, easy access to nearby attractions, and just enough bustle to keep things interesting.
  • The Kid-Friendly Touches. Everywhere you turn, there are small signs that families are not just tolerated here—they’re celebrated. There’s a dedicated board game room in the lounge. Kids’ menus and activity placemats are ready at the bistro. Even the hotel bakery doubles as a town favorite, where you can treat your kids to pastries in the morning and gelato in the afternoon. It’s those little extras that make family travel feel easy and fun.
  • The People. What really makes Armancette shine is the warmth of the staff. From the concierge who helps plan your day trips to the servers who remember your child’s favorite dessert, the people here make a lasting impression. They’re welcoming without being overbearing, and genuinely seem to love hosting families.

Location and Activities

Armancette is tucked into the picturesque alpine hamlet of Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce, just above the larger town of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains. This quieter alternative to glitzier neighbors like Chamonix and Megève offers a more relaxed, authentic mountain village feel—with none of the sacrifice. You’re still within easy reach of both towns (20–40 minutes by car), and can access the same expansive ski lift network as Megève, making it ideal for winter stays.

In summer, Saint-Gervais transforms into an outdoor playground with hiking, via ferrata, mountain biking, and even a mountaintop ninja course for kids at the top of the gondola. With breathtaking Mont Blanc views in every direction and a location that feels tucked away yet convenient, Armancette makes a wonderful base for a year-round family escape. We recommend flying into Geneva and renting a car—it’s an easy, scenic drive into the Alps and gives you flexibility to explore the nearby towns.

  • Armancette’s setting in the tiny alpine village of Saint-Nicolas-de-VĂ©roce gives it the feel of a hidden retreat. The panoramic views of Mont Blanc—visible from the terrace, spa, and even the pool—create a spectacular backdrop in every season. Just outside the hotel, you’ll find ski lifts, walking paths, and a charming village square where you can grab a coffee or let the kids roam.
  • Though the hotel has just 19 rooms, it offers a wide range of thoughtful layouts for families. Some suites have bunk beds tucked into cozy lofts, others feature two distinct sleeping areas with doors for privacy. Many rooms include balconies with mountain views and spacious bathrooms with soaking tubs.
  • One of Armancette’s most memorable features is its on-site pâtisserie, which doubles as the town bakery. Breakfast is included and features pastries made fresh each morning—many of which are also available at afternoon tea. While the fine-dining restaurant is open a few nights a week, the more casual bistro across the road offers nightly dinner service with a kid-friendly menu, and room service is available for quiet nights in.
  • During French school holidays, the hotel offers a rotating calendar of kids’ activities, including outdoor games, guided hikes, and cozy indoor crafts. There’s also a fireplace lounge stocked with books and board games, perfect for winding down after dinner. Babysitting can be arranged with advance notice, and the concierge is a valuable resource for organizing age-appropriate adventures in the area.
  • The wellness area includes an indoor-outdoor pool that welcomes children—a rarity in luxury hotels. Parents can enjoy the spa jets, saunas, and hammam while kids float nearby, or sneak in a treatment at the full-service spa. There’s also a small gym with mountain views for anyone hoping to squeeze in a workout between croissants.
  • The hotel offers ski and hiking gear storage, valet parking, and EV charging. Seasonal extras like complimentary sleds or backpacks for day trips add to the ease. For those flying into Geneva, the hotel can also assist with arranging airport transfers, making arrival as smooth as the rest of your stay.

Traveler Reviews

Wow, what a weekend, we loved the Armancette!

We were looking for a ski solution not too far away from Geneva as we live on London and we’re super happy with our choice. The hotel is beautiful, clearly new and built with a great style, a combination of “traditional mountain” and “elegant modern”. We were in a comfortable family room on the second floor and it was perfect for us as we are a family of four. Service is impeccable, they helped us get to and back from the ski slopes every day, find rental equipment, restaurants….. Great breakfast in the morning and you can’t miss dinner at their Gourmet restaurant (same location) which is also 5 stars like the whole Armancette experience. Good gym, we couldn’t try the SPA as it was fully booked. Thanks to the whole team for an amazing weekend, we’ll be back!!

Another wonderful stay!

You may be weighing up other luxury resorts in the area, and considering your options. We have stayed in so many hotels in this area, and return to the Armancette whenever we are in this part of France, over and above all others now.

You will struggle to find any hotel that can match the authenticity, attention to detail and genuine hospitality that is offered here in abundance. Hand crafted, pine scented rooms that exude luxury, decadence and comfort that are nestled in a village that has a soul and a heart. We actually feel ‘part of the village’ rather than just passing tourists, and part of their family – the warmth goes way beyond five star service and care.

The most magnificent views, the nature and serenity all around and the gorgeous swimming pool and spa area combines to create a really special stay. We enjoyed the many sporting activities available in the area, it was so fun for our teens for our summer stay (we love the winter stays here too)
