Wondering whether any of the amazing Caribbean resorts with private pools welcome families? And whether there are hotels with private plunge pools in the Caribbean that are within your budget for your next tropical vacation with kids?
You’ve come to the right place.
It’s no secret that the Caribbean has some of the world’s most stunning hotels — including hotels with private pool suites designed for romance and privacy. But many of those hotels are adults-only, or not particular welcoming of kids. Or they cost an arm and a leg, reserved for a total splurge.
Having a private plunge pool while in the Caribbean with kids opens up a world of relaxation. It means you can have your morning coffee while your kids cool off. Or maybe you want a peaceful swim while your kids are taking an afternoon siesta — or at bedtime. And sometimes, you just want a moment of fun with your kids without worrying about sharing pool toys, gathering up the gear, or finding a public bathroom.
And while having your own in-room pool may seem like a total luxury, it doesn’t have to come with a top-of-the-line price tag. Our list includes some small, unique hotels where a private pool could be yours even with a moderate budget.
If you’re a self-planner looking for a Caribbean resort that has all of the luxury amenities your family desires — including a private pool — here are five amazing, kid-friendly resorts to consider.

1. Hotel Las Islas – Colombia
Hotel Las Islas, near Cartagena, Colombia, is a truly special place. With sprawling grounds, attentive staff, and a wealth of activities, it’s the perfect place to disconnect and enjoy some quality time with your family. Enter a magical world of thatched treetop and oceanfront bungalows, connected by winding pathways through a mangrove forest.
If the image of a thatched roof bungalow alone is not enough to have you packing your bags, how about one with a private infinity pool?
The sealevel bungalows at Las Islas have smooth, wooden decks and private plunge pools, which are plenty big enough for kids to swim around. Be aware, though, that this is an eco-hotel and the pool is filled with unfiltered Caribbean seawater. If a luxurious connection to nature is what you’re after, you can’t beat Hotel Las Islas.
2. Bequia Beach Hotel – St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Bequia (pronounced BECK-WAY) is the second largest island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Only 5,000 people call the 7-square mile island home, and traveling here is, in some ways, a trip back in time to an untouched Caribbean without the large resorts.
Bequia Beach Hotel is the biggest hotel on Bequia but, with less than 100 rooms, still feels intimate and personal. You’ll find a relaxed yet refined vibe, comfortable rooms, excellent food, and very warm and welcoming people. For a beach resort with private pool rooms in a low-key Caribbean atmosphere, this is the hotel for you.
The best rooms at Bequia Beach Hotel are one- and two-bedroom cottages surrounding the property’s lush, central garden. The two-bedroom cottages not only have a separate twin bedroom for the kids, and a kitchenette, but a private plunge pool as well! Enjoy your Caribbean cocktail hour on your own private deck while your kids cool off next to you. Ultimate relaxation.

3. Las Verandas Hotel & Villas – Roatan
Las Verandas Hotel in Roatan, Honduras is a unique hotel on a fascinating island. Most travelers who visit Roatan are either scuba divers or perhaps families who choose to stay on West Bay Beach. But Las Verandas is a quiet (but not stiff) boutique hotel located in the secluded, middle area of the island. It has a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the ocean.
The 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom villas at Las Verandas comfortably fit families — and have private pools! Plus, you get a full kitchen. These villas are much more affordable than many Caribbean hotel villas but just as lovely. And the plush beds at Las Veranda are beyond comfortable – you may actually sleep well on a family trip here.
The hotel’s location makes it easy to enjoy Roatan’s top kid-friendly activities, and the private pool villas will make you excited to come home at the end of the day. Overall, Las Verandas Hotel Roatan is an excellent choice for families who want to enjoy all that Roatan has to offer in a private and comfortable setting.
4. Secret Bay Resort or Pagua Bay House – Dominica
For a more adventurous Caribbean vacation, but with the luxury of a private pool to come home to each day, get yourself to Dominica.
Dominica claimed the top spot on Travel & Leisure’s 2022 list of best Caribbean Islands. Unlike many more resort-focused islands, you travel to Dominica to find a still undiscovered Caribbean gem, with waterfalls, hiking, volcanoes, and more. But, as Travel & Leisure pointed out, there are also “pocket of luxury” ripe for discovery.
Secret Bay Resort may no longer be a secret to luxury travelers, as Travel & Leisure also named it the best hotel in the Caribbean. But what you may not know is that Secret Bay welcomes families. Their clifftop villas — with private pools of course — offer a backdrop for a family vacation straight out of a magazine.
If Secret Bay is out of your budget, don’t fret! A private pool in Dominica is still right at your fingertips, at Pagua Bay House.
Perched on a seaside hill, each of the 7 cottages at Pagua Bay has an ocean view. The sound of crashing waves will lull you and your little ones to sleep. The cottages surround a well-maintained lawn where kids can run freely and safely – and a steady ocean breeze prevents overheating.
Pagua Bay is unpretentious but with just enough luxury touches to make you and your family comfortable. There’s an on-site restaurant, fantastic cocktails, luxurious linens, and heavenly rain showers.
The hotel’s main pool is small but well-appointed — with lounge chairs sitting on a shallow shelf in the water where kids can play. But Cabana #5 is for you if you have your mind set on your own private pool. It’s perfect for a family of 3. With an oversized room and bathroom, there’s plenty of space for a crib or rollaway bed, and kids can unwind on the covered, private pool deck.
5. Finest Playa Mujeres – Mexico
At Mango Tree, we generally recommend small, boutique hotels over large resorts.
But sometimes an inclusive resort is what your family needs: a hassle-free vacation experience where all your needs and entertainment are taken care of.
For those trips, we always recommend the Finest Playa Mujeres — which also happens to have family rooms with private pools.
So if you’re looking for affordable all-inclusive resorts with private plunge pools, look no further. The Finest Playa Mujeres really stands out above the rest in its overall vibe, design, attentiveness to families – and value for money, given its reasonable prices.
The suites at Finest Playa Mujeres come in many different layouts, with swim-up suites connected to shared pools, private plunge pool suites, and private rooftop plunge pools. Many are large and specifically designed for families with a separate room for the kids.
The Pool Family Suite has a master king bedroom, a separate room with two twin beds for the kids, and a private terrace with a pool. These family pool rooms are very popular among those who have discovered the Finest Playa Mujeres, so we recommend booking well in advance if you can!
6. Spice Island Beach Resort – Grenada
If you run a google search for the best Caribbean hotels with private pools, Grenada’s Spice Island Beach Resort frequently makes the list.
We love this hotel — but we don’t think the rooms with private pools are the best ones for families. Here’s why.
The private pool rooms are designed with couples in mind. They have a single sleeping space and a romantic outdoor pool area. While great for couples, you would have trouble being comfortable in those particular rooms with kids, who would not have their own space.
The Royal Cinnamon and Saffron Beach Suites, by contrast, are one-bedroom suites designed with families in mind. They are spacious, with a sofabed for the kids in a separate living area. And perhaps better than a pool, they open right onto Grand Anse Beach.
Order room service to the private beachfront terrace and watch the sun go down — you won’t miss the pool.
