Why we like it for families

  • Families First, By Design. Falkensteiner Hotel Montafon is built from the ground up with families in mind. It’s not just kid-friendly — it’s family-forward. The spaces, programs, and even the restaurant layout are designed to support shared experiences. Rather than tucking the kids’ club away in a corner, play areas are woven throughout the lobby, bar, and restaurants so parents can enjoy a glass of wine while the kids stay entertained nearby. Every detail is oriented toward helping families connect and relax, together and apart
  • All-Season Alpine Adventure. Whether you’re skiing in or hiking out, this is a true year-round destination. In the winter, families can ski right out the door to the nearby slopes. After a day on the mountain, hop on a kid-sized shuttle train back to the hotel — a fun twist that little ones love. In summer, the Montafon Valley turns into a lush outdoor playground with easy access to trails, nature parks, and eco-adventure programming that’s actually engaging for kids.
  • Childcare That Works. It’s rare to find a luxury hotel that starts its kids’ programming at 6 months — and even rarer to see such thoughtful breakdowns by age. Here, babies, toddlers, big kids, and teens each have their own dedicated space, and childcare is included in your stay. The programming blends fun with purpose, from soft play and storytelling for littles to STEM workshops and outdoor exploration for bigger kids.
  • The Spa. Come here for this alone. The spa and water world at this hotel has a relaxing wellness zone for grown-ups and a splash-filled water paradise for kids. Indoor and outdoor pools are joined by water slides, a shallow baby pool, and even a family sauna — while adults have access to a tranquil, separate spa area when it’s time to take advantage of the kids club and unwind.
  • Family Rooms that Work. Every family room offers a separate sleeping area for kids — and many include cozy play nooks, bunk beds, or balconies with mountain views. These aren’t just extra beds in the corner; they’re carefully designed spaces that give everyone room to breathe.

  • The Setting. Perched at 1,000 meters in Austria’s Montafon Valley, the hotel welcomes families with fresh mountain air, modern alpine architecture, and a true sense of escape. Whether you arrive after a peaceful train ride or a scenic drive from Zurich, it’s clear this place is built for slowing down. Kids are greeted with open play zones as soon as they walk in the door — including slides, climbing areas, and quiet nooks — so there’s no waiting around for the fun to start.
  • Rooms Made for Real Life. Rooms at Falkensteiner Montafon are more than just places to sleep. Even the entry-level family rooms offer two distinct sleeping areas, one for adults and one for kids — often with bunk beds, cozy reading nooks, or playful ladders to small lofts. Suites add space to spread out, larger bathrooms, and balconies with mountain views. The design is clean and contemporary, but still kid-proofed and practical — no worrying about sticky fingers here.
  • Dining That Works for Everyone. There are two main restaurants on-site. The family restaurant is a relaxed all-day space with live cooking stations, buffet selections, and seating that makes room for strollers and squirmy toddlers. For something more refined, the smaller regional restaurant showcases seasonal alpine cuisine — perfect for a quieter night or a parents-only meal. High chairs, kids’ menus, and early dining options are readily available.
  • Kids’ Club and Family Programming. Childcare is included and begins at just 6 months old, with four age-based groups offering appropriate, engaging programming for babies through teens. Unlike many resorts, these aren’t tucked away — they’re right in the center of the action, so families can stay connected even when doing their own thing. Activities go beyond crafts: kids might explore forest trails, try science experiments, or cook their own snacks in the mini-kitchen lab. Themed days, evening entertainment, and nature-based games fill the schedule.
  • Nature Programming. Kids won’t just burn energy here — they’ll learn something too. The hotel’s ecotainment concept is all about connecting kids to the natural world. Think forest walks, animal encounters, sustainability lessons woven into play, and a genuine respect for the surrounding Alpine environment.
  • Spa & Water World. The 1,400m² Acquapura Organic Spa is truly built for both adults and kids. The family area includes indoor and outdoor pools, a shallow baby pool, waterslides, and a family sauna — so everyone can splash or soak at their own pace. For those craving quiet, the adults-only spa area offers steam rooms, saunas, and mountain-view loungers to unwind while the kids are happily supervised nearby.
  • Bonus Features. Parents will appreciate the extras: a wine list that’s thoughtfully curated, a spacious bar for après-ski or quiet nights in, a full fitness center, and an overall vibe that never makes you feel out of place — even with a toddler in tow. And while it’s a luxury stay, the atmosphere is casual and grounded in nature, not stiff or showy. You’re here to breathe.

Traveler Reviews

“Falkensteiner Montafon is a gem, blending top notch childrens facilities with the rest of the hotel. The staff is incredibly friendly, the room was great and the food fabulous (even though I was sceptical of it being all in buffet form at first). Excellent location, perfect for hiking in summer time. Spa is wonderful and our child was completely in live with the kidsclub, all the activities and Falky! Would love to go back.”

“We had opportunity to spend almost a week at this lovely hotel in Austria. The hotel is brand new, everything was clean and comfortable.

The room was super cool, our children very much enjoyed the spaces created for the kids. The facilities are wonderful and the views breathtaking. The park was still undergoing but we had a sneak peak and it looks great, lots of features and water play. Also suitable for older kids up to early teens.”
