Why we like it for families

THE ROOMS. The Sands has spacious suites accommodating up to 8 people in layouts ranging from one- to three- bedrooms. They have full kitchens, oversized screened-in balconies with lounge areas, and laundry. You can comfortably spread out with your kids, setting yourself up for a successful vacation.
THE TRANQUILITY. The Sands may not offer the wide range of amenities and entertainment as larger resorts—you won’t find a kids’ club or waterslides here. It’s a low-key but thoughtfully designed property where you and your kids can take a breath, rest your heads, and have the best of Turks & Caicos at your fingertips.
THE PROPERTY. The central garden courtyard will make you feel calm and secure. Small children can comfortable wander around without fear of getting lost, and you’re never too far from your room. The Sands has small two pool areas: The main pool area overlooks Grace Bay beach which has a separate kids pool. And a free-form pool area in the garden, connected by canals (not quite a lazy river) with plenty of shade.
THE STAFF. The warm and welcoming staff at The Sands is what makes this hotel a great choice for families. The people keep guests returning year after year. You’ll enter The Sands through a sophisticated, open-air lobby, where you’ll be offered a rum punch welcome drink (always a lovely perk). Tennis and basketball courts are next to
the lobby as well, and a convenience store where you can pick-up snacks, sunscreen, wine, and gifts.
The lobby opens to the well-manicured property, with paths that lead you to the rooms and eventually down to the beach, where your kids can run around, independent but contained.
As noted above, the Sands has two pool areas: The main pool area overlooks Grace Bay beach and has a separate kiddie pool, great for toddlers. In the garden, a free-form pool area connected by canals offers a change of scenery (and shade).
The suites at The Sands are in six three-story buildings surrounding the courtyard. Each room configuration is available with either a courtyard, garden, or oceanview, or oceanfront. Buildings 3 and 4 are closest to the pool and ocean; we recommend requesting a room in one of those buildings.
The Sands has only one restaurant, Hemingway’s, which has decent food and a fantastic kid-friendly atmosphere right on the beach. It’s a great restaurant to have at your fingertips when the kids are famished, but you don’t need to eat every meal here—you’re less than 10 minutes from downtown Grace Bay. The hotel also offers a free shuttle for you to enjoy dinner at its sister properties, The Palms and The Shore Club. Note that breakfast doesn’t start until 8am, so stock the fridge for early risers.
Complimentary bicycles are provided for adventures in town, great for older kids.
Although there is no kids’ club, the Sands does offer in-room babysitting on 24 hours’ notice.
Take advantage of the babysitting to hit the spa. Or bring your daughter with you! The spa offers family specials, including a “Mommy and Me Little Mermaid Package” for mothers and daughters.
At the beach, take advantage of complimentary kayaks, snorkeling gear, stand-up paddleboards and Hobie Cats.

This was our second stay this year at the Sands. It is perfect for families. The grounds are so well kept and the staff is so friendly. You can not beat the location. Also nice to have Hemingways on site. Live music and good food. The beach is so beautiful and you can really walk anywhere from here.

This place is meticulously groomed. Our room was spotless, every corner was clean. There was no detail left undone. Very friendly staff, happy people abound! How could you be anything but happy? This place is paradise! The pools were clean, staff were running all over to make your stay here enjoyable. Families with kids, older couples, younger couples, and everyone in between were just happy! The beach is beautiful with this white powdery sand, the water is the most pale blue to turquoise color you could ever imagine seeing! Memorizing colors and a vibe that makes you feel your soul has been cleansed. Do yourself a favor, take a vacation and stay at The Sands. I’m telling you, PERFECTION!!!
