Why we like it for families

  • Family-friendly low-key luxury. Don’t we all secretly dream of running away to a private island? From the spacious cottages to the butler service to the private flights required to get here – this is barefoot luxury all the way. But don’t be misled: You won’t find marble floors or extravagent spaces here. This is a remote, turn-back-time kind of luxury where you’ll unplug and connect with nature. and completely disconnect.
  • The beach. Looking at the photo of Petit St. Vincent, and one thing jumps out: the gorgeous, 2-mile white sandy beach encircling the entire island is ringe gorgeous beach. Imagine the beach walks you could take here, and the energy your kids can release running around on these shores.
  • The rooms. With 22 cottages spread out around the island, you essentially have your own house at this resort. The spacious one- and two-bedroom suites all comfortably fit families, are beautifully designed with open-air touches, and offer plenty of space to spread out. When you need assistance from your private butler, simply raise the flag outside your cottage.
  • The atmosphere. With no TVs, internet, or phones, Petit St. Vincent truly encourages families to unplug and connect. The website makes it clear who should come here: “PSV requires a love of the outdoors and a desire for castaway fantasies.”
  • The food. What better way to expose your kids to phenomenal food than with fresh, locally caught lobster and homemade ice cream every day of the week?

  • First things first, how do we get to this island paradise? Petit St. Vincent sits in the southern tip of the Grenadines. Get yourself to Barbados, and then the hotel will arrange a charter flight to Union Island (currently priced at $700 per person, round trip). Alternatively, you can also get to Union Island via St. Vincent. From there, take a short ferry ride for the last leg of your journey.
  • The island has 22 cottages spread around a 115-acre property, with lush greenery and long stretches of beach in every direction. There are 16 one-bedroom cottages and six two-bedroom villas, with some tucked away in the hills, others right on the beach. The cottages have an open-air design evoking a sense of understated luxury. Each cottage includes unlimited butler room service.
  • The room rate covers food and non-alcoholic beverages. The hotel has two main restaurants: Main Pavilion Restaurant for a five-star, internationally-inspired al fresco dining experience, with a menu that changes daily, and the more casual beach restaurant with lots of kid-friendly options. Both serve locally grown vegetables and fresh fish, with many other options as well. Lobsters included too between November and April. Food can be taken anywhere on the island, though, including in your rooms.
  • As for drinks, parents can imbibe the locally brewed beer at Goatie’s beach bar, and the myriad wine choices housed in the island’s 6,000 bottle cellar. Complimentary wine and rum tastings and manager’s cocktails are offered throughout the week.
  • Rates also included unlimited non-motorized waters sports (kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling equipment, hobie cats, and tennis). The island also has its own dive center, but dives are an extra cost.
  • Be aware that there’s no pool on Petit St. Vincent. This is a beach-focused experience, with warm and very calm waters, but if your idea of luxury involves an expansive infinity pool, it’s not the resort for you.
  • The island also has limited wifi. You won’t be working remotely here – come to detach from those electronics. When you need something, you literally raise the flag at your villa.
  • Childcare is offered at $15 per hour, which will help you take advantage of the diving, spa, and other adult-focused activities.

We travelled to PSV at spring break (2 adults 4 young children). I think that our recent trip was our 6th or 7th visit to the island . Quiet, safe and great for kids. Pristine beaches and ocean, great staff, and the accommodations are very comfortable. Each cottage is cleverly situated and landscaped to make it seem that you are the only people on the island. . . . No phones or wifi in the rooms helps you disconnect (and gets your kids to pick up books….)

My family and I just returned from Petit St. Vincent and had an amazing time! From the cottage location, water, hike, boat right to Tobago Cays, food, etc. it was perfect!! It was just what the doctor ordered and because of the limited number of cottages gave it the feeling that we were the only ones on the island! My boys 3 and 5 already asked to go back!! Just want to give a big shout out to Rolando, Maurice, and Wendal who always created us with smiles and warmth. There are a lot of things that go into making a vacation great but the accommodating staff, friendliness, and positive energy made this stay one to remember.
