Why we like it for families

  • The Vibe: Rustic fancy but not fussy – kids can be themselves here. It’s the kind of place where kids can run wild, get muddy, and make friends with the staff – while parents soak up the peace of a nature retreat. You’ll return to your lodge exhausted from outdoor adventures but refreshed from being immersed in what feels like an entirely different world. Fresh air, incredible food, and the rare feeling of being off-grid (without sacrificing any of the comfort).
  • The Staff: The staff is incredibly welcoming – making travelers feel right at home. The geo-guides know their stuff and engage brilliantly with kids – tailoring activities to their energy levels, interests and attention spans. Plus, when one of our clients stayed back with a napping child, the staff sent a massive bento box full of delicious food – fresh cheeses, veggies, meatballs, bread, eclairs – the works. That kind of thoughtful service defines Oasyhotel.
  • The Food: Picky eaters? No problem. The breakfast buffet alone gets rave reviews from kids—one called it the “best in her entire life.” Farm-to-table isn’t just a buzzword here; ingredients come straight from the property, and even the chicken tenders are next-level. Expect hyperlocal flavors, gourmet kid-friendly options, and meals that actually taste as good as they look.
  • The Kid-Friendly Grounds: Oasyhotel’s 1,000-hectare nature reserve is your family’s playground. E-bikes (with baby seats!) make hilly terrain easy to explore, while hiking trails lead to breathtaking lookouts. A short walk takes you to a lake stocked with paddleboards and kayaks. But fair warning: you’re truly in nature here, so pack bug spray and embrace the adventure.
  • The Family Activities: One of the best perks at Oasyhotel? Every stay includes onsite activities like swimming, tennis, and bike rides plus one guided activity. The options here are unique – orienteering, foraging, wildlife tours, and animal tracking. There’s also the option to add specialty activities like cheesemaking, horseback riding, beekeeping, a cooking class, and stargazing. The uniqueness of the family activity choices meals you’ll get a one-of-a-kind family vacation here.

Location and Activities

Oasyhotel sits high in the Apennine Mountains at 3,600 feet, about 1 hour from the Florence airport, and is the perfect lowkey pairing to the busier city of Florence. The drive is scenic but full of hairpin turns, so be prepared if your kids get carsick. Once you arrive, a 25-minute shuttle ride takes you straight into nature’s bliss.

Set in a 1,000-hectare WWF nature reserve, Oasyhotel offers a true wilderness experience with luxury comforts. Wolves, deer, and rare plants thrive here, and the reserve is committed to environmental sustainability. Once you’re at Oasyhotel, it won’t make much sense to make the long drive to explore elsewhere. So just kick back, relax, and let yourself be immersed in nature.

  • Arrival at Oasyhotel feels like stepping into a secret alpine retreat. The reception, a stylish mix of light wood and modern furnishings, welcomes you with fresh-baked cookies and warm hospitality. Staff greets you by name and reviews your personalized activity plan before sending you off to your eco-lodge—a short stroll through wild grasses with stunning mountain views.
  • The setting is vast, yet the design is sleek and intentional. It’s a rare mix of remote nature and refined comfort, where muddy boots are welcome, and every adventure starts right outside your door.
  • The family-friendly double & twin lodges are impressively spacious, designed to give parents and kids their own areas without feeling disconnected. Two separate sleeping spaces, 1-2 bathrooms, and a roomy living area make for an easy stay.
  • A clever divider separates the sleeping space/s from the main living space, while a massive walk-in closet swallows up all your gear. Heated floors add a cozy touch, and privacy screens between lodges ensure total privacy.
  • Le Felci Restaurant, near the eco-lodges, is the main dining spot with an incredible breakfast buffet, plus à la carte lunch and dinner with local Tuscan wines. Dietary preferences are easily accommodated. Casa Luigi Farmhouse, on the other hand, offers trattoria-style dining in a restored farmhouse with stunning views. It’s a bit of a trek, but worth it—shuttle available.
Le Felci Bistrot, next to reception, is the go-to for afternoon snacks, aperitifs, cocktails, or a light lunch. Every meal features fresh ingredients from Oasy Dynamo’s farm—farm-to-table at its best.
  • There’s no formal kids’ club here, but there is plenty of space for kids to run free and explore, plus a wide variety of activities for kids and families. Swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, tennis, and exploring trails on your own or via your included bikes are included in your stay, plus one additional guided activity per day. Guided activities include things like cheese-making with the on-site cheesemaker, guided wildlife tracking with geo-guides, seed papermaking, or animal tracking.
  • There’s no formal fitness room on site, but between hiking and biking, you won’t be missing out on exercise activity. If you are looking for a bit more, sunrise and sunset yoga take place on a mountaintop platform with breathtaking views.
  • On property there’s a bio-swimming pool built into the private lake. It’s a crystal-clear, natural swimming spot for confident swimmers. Picnic lunches by the lake make for a dreamy midday break.
  • For relaxation, open-air treehouse-style massage cabins offer treatments by the elements – water, earth, air, or sun. Another option? A forest walk – a 20-minute woodland walk + a 30-minute pre-massage ritual + a 50-minute open air massage. My oh my.

A Remarkable Week I spent a week at Oasyhotel with my daughter for some get away time. The hotel was a spectacular find. Set in 1000 hectares of Tuscan forest. The lodges are minimal and comfortable with great balconies to read. There are numerous adventures to be had, including four cycle tracks (you’re given bikes on arrival) kayaking, night walking, orienteering or yoga. We had a great morning on the cheese making course. But, saving the best for last, the staff are incredible!! A totally 5-star experience, they could not have done more to make us welcome, with huge smiles, and genuine desire to make our stay a good one. We’ll be back.
