Why we like it for families

  • The beachfront location. Grenada’s picture-perfect Grand Anse beach is one of the Caribbean’s best. The beachfront, family suites at Spice Island Beach Resort offer you the chance to enjoy your morning coffee right on its sandy shore – while your kids hit the beach right in sight. This is a perk very few Grenada hotels can claim. Spice Island just might have the best location of all of Grenada’s hotels.
  • The staff. We get super excited at Mango Tree when we find a hotel with a staff who greets guests by name and treats children like VIPs. Guest reviews of Spice Island emphasize the warm and welcoming staff is at this family-run hotel.
  • The kids’ club. It’s rare to find a small, boutique hotel that also has a kids’ club. Kids from ages 3-12 can enjoy the supervised Nutmeg Pod from 9am – 5pm daily. Note, however, that while at the kids’ club, children do remain inside. In-suite babysitting also is available at a very reasonable rate ($25 for the first hour; $12.50 for each hour after).
  • The spacious rooms. The hotel is all-suites, and the beachfront suites have a great, spacious set-up for families, with beachfront terraces where mom and dad can relax while the kids sleep or play in the sand.

Spice Island Beach Resort offers Mango Tree guests VIP amenities including: Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability; $100 resort credit; Early Check-In / Late Check-Out, subject to availability; Complimentary Wi-Fi. Let’s get you VIP’d!

Location and Activities

Spice Island Beach Resort sits right on the shores of Grenada’s Grand Anse Beach, less than 10 minutes from Maurice Bishop International Airport.

We encourage you to rent a car to explore Grenada’s beaches, towns , and rainforest. That said, because Spice Island is right on Grenada’s best beach and within walking distance of several other hotels, bars, and restaurants, you could certainly make due without a car. Spice Island’s website describes the available resort activities.

  • We don’t gravitate to all-inclusive hotels here at Mango Tree, but this 64-room, boutique-style hotel is different with its truly special location, spacious beachfront family suites, welcoming staff, colorful kids’ club, and rave reviews. This is a luxury choice, with a high price tag to match, but a worthwhile one.
  • The resort is relatively compact, with two beachfront restaurants and one pool just off the lobby. You can see a resort map here, highlighting the beachfront suites. Consider requesting a room in Suites 14-21 to be closer to the pool.
  • Oliver’s Restaurant, the more upscale of the two resort dining options, serves breakfast and dinner, with a Caribbean-creole focus. Lunch is served outside at Sea & Surf Terrace and Bar. Children under 5 are not allowed at Oliver’s for dinner. You’ll be seated outside with small children (which may be better because they can run around). Or mix it up with room service.
  • The all-inclusive room rates include food, drinks, in-room mini bars, non-motorized water sports, sailing, tennis, bicycles, yoga classes, access to the colorful kids’ club and fitness center, and green fees at a local golf course.

Traveler Reviews

Spice Island Beach Resort is simply sublime. From the amazing location, the amazing food and the amazing hospitality of the amazing staff, this is a must visit resort which caters for absolutely everything. . . . The spa and kids club were excellent. . . . The food and beverages were excellent, served by smiling staff who always remember your name and who always making a fuss of the kids.

The resort itself is beautiful. It’s on one of the most gorgeous beaches in the Caribbean, the beach front suites literally open their doors onto the sand. It’s a public beach, which I think all in Grenada are which gives it a really nice, open feeling. It’s not like in places like Jamaica or Dominican Republic where locals are prevented from accessing their own beaches. It’s never busy or noisy though, it’s mostly just people wandering past. It’s a fairly small resort but has everything you’d need – pool, spa, bar, kids club etc.
