Small Hope Bay Lodge is 9 minutes away from the Andros Town Airport There are many ways to get to Small Hope Bay Lodge. You can take a flight to Nassau and get a cab to Andros from there. Chartering a flight from Lauderdale is also an option, as well as taking a ferry from Nassau to Andros. Regardless of which means of transportation you choose, you’ll be sure to see the unspoiled nature along the route.
The first thing you will notice when you set foot in the reception area is the comfortable, somewhat homey feel of the place. The walls are made of wood and stone, with straw mats spread throughout.
Our favorite décor feature, though, is the fabric you’ll see everywhere – from the curtains to pillowcases, table mats, and bed sheets. It’s called Androsia, a fabric made locally in Andros. The family that founded Small Hope Bay also founded the fabric company, to help give the women of Andros a vocation. You can visit the fabric company during your stay.
Small Hope Bay is not a luxury resort. The rustic vibe is intentional, and part of its charm. The rooms are sparse and breezy, with no fridges, kitchenettes, or sprawling terraces. You’ll live on the beach and in the common areas, meeting new friends along the way.
The hotel has 18 one-bedroom cabins, and 4 two-bedroom cabins that will fit families. Because availability for is limited at this small resort, if it catches your fancy, we highly recommend booking early to ensure a two-bedroom cottage is available!
Dining at Small Hope Bay Lodge reinforces the feeling of community, as the dining area doubles as a social space for guests. You’ll feast on Caribbean comfort food made from locally soured ingredients and freshly caught seafood. Kids menu and Gluten-free options are also available.
Small Hope Bay is all about the nature. Your days will be spent fishing, scuba diving, birding, kayaking, and snorkeling.
The lodge offers cribs, babysitting services (free during dinner time) and has a children’s activity center. There is also a fireplace in the library which creates a really cozy vibe. Pack lots of books for your little one, and spend some time reading in palm-shaded hammocks by the water. You’ll return home refreshed and reconnected.
Don’t waste your time searching for rates and availability. We can handle it (and love it!), at no additional cost to you.
Our family had been eyeing Small Hope for a few years thinking it would be a place our family would enjoy. We like to travel to remote/off the beaten path locations in the Bahamas. Small Hope far exceeded our expectations. My 8 & 10 year old said it was the best vacation they have ever been on. The beach that Small Hope is located on is large and beautiful. There is a lot of reefs right off the shore and much sea life to see. We kayaked, fished, and even tried scuba diving for the first time. Bikes were available and we took advantage to explore and bike to the blue hole as well as another beach down the way. Plenty of hammocks to relax in and read a good book. The kids area at the main building has ping pong and other games for the kids to play. The highlight of the kids week was snorkeling with the sharks!! The staff is super nice and accommodating. The food was amazing!! So much to choose from at each meal and it was delicious!! Our caught fish was even cooked up and served to our table one night. Delicious!! Only a few other guest were there at the same time, so for us it was a perfect escape from our busy, rushed lives. A great way to disconnect, enjoy each other, and nature! Highly recommend if that’s what you are looking for.

My husband, daughter (13), son (12) and I had an unbelievable time at Small Hope Bay Lodge. It was our first visit and did not disappoint. The staff was easy to work with and helped answer any questions we had during the planning process. Once we arrived, we knew this was a special place. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The staff was kind, friendly, extremely hard working and seemed genuinely happy to be there. They were patient with our kids while teaching them to scuba dive (special thank you to Yente, Dylan, Daniel and Dennis). The food was fantastic – fresh, creative, and just delicious. The location and scenery were beautiful. The rooms were lovely, clean and super comfy. Thank you to the entire team and we look forward to coming back
